New Stock for March

January 19, 2012

We always get very excited when we know new stock is arriving. Packets and boxes full of interesting things to dust off, price up, and get onto the shelves.

This Spring, we’ve got some really pretty practical items coming. And here is a sneak preview! Here is one of the range of hand painted wooden boxes with ceramic drawers. The drawers are also hand painted in various designs. A great item to keep things in such as earrings, dried seeds from the garden, herbs or spices or even just those things that never seem to find a place to live!

If you are an avid reader then you’ll know the benefits of bookends. I certainly do! I’ve got books all over the house, some wedged with boxes or just plain lumps of wood. Not very attractive as you can imagine! These delightful elephant bookends are just such a lovely and novel idea. Again, pretty and practical and very unusual!  If you like elephants, we’ve also got hand painted elephant coffee tables coming in too. A really great idea!

We’re hoping the new stock will be in the shop about mid March.

It all went a little mad (in a good way) for us around Christmas. People were ordering kadai firebowls www.kadai.co.uk for Christmas pressies, they were ordering kadai firebowls www.kadai.co.uk for their New Years Eve parties, it was just crazy!

We all thought that the time between Christmas and New Year would be quiet, but no, the phones were going constantly with orders to be sent all over the country.

Last year, we sold over 3,000 kadai firebowls. Not only just the firebowls, but also hundreds of items from the kadai accessories range. These include the popular and award winning Kadai Charcoal Maker (Prince Phillip bought two you know, at Chelsea Flower Show last year!)  The blow-poker, tripod stand, cooking bowls, zara roasting pan, skewers and skewer racks, shovels and chopping boards and more. For further information on the kadai accessories range, please click here http://www.kadai.co.uk/shop/4_Kadai_Accessories

I’ve had my kadai lit quite a few times over the festive period. Its been so nice,  just to use it for heat while we all sit outside under the stars sipping mulled wine heated up in a solid saucepan placed on the grill.

I can’t enthuse enough about this product. It is so very easy to use and it’ll last for years unlike many firebowls or bbq’s on the market today. They simply can’t take the heat like the Wilstone kadai can.  Click here for further information about the kadai firebowls we sell. http://www.kadai.co.uk/

Christmas is a-coming!

November 10, 2011

Unlike a lot of high street shops, we haven’t had our Christmas tree up since August or be-decked our halls with boughs of holly – but we do have an amazing array of interesting and very unusual stock for your to peruse!

Pressies for everyone here; we have a huge array of sparkly silver jewellery at reasonable prices. Earrings, pendants, chains and some gorgeous rings to make your heart skip a beat (if rings  ‘float your boat’, as it were!) We also have wooden boxes of all sizes and all prices. Boxes to hide or keep things in. Previous customers have bought boxes for their antique guns, jewellery, family keepsakes, letters, cards, money, everything!

I could detail so much more, but I’d hate to bore you! In short, we have masses of stock here.

Four huge rooms packed to the rafters with the interesting and unusual. We also stock St Eval Candles (http://www.stevalcandlecompany.co.uk/); delicious scented candle tins that have a burn time of 45 hours.  Available in a range of really scrumptious scents such as Orange and Cinnamon and Lime and Grapefruit. They sound like they are, but unfortunately they aren’t edible!

We also sell our very popular kadai (pronounced KA-DAI) fire bowls all year round! Click through to www.kadai.co.uk for further information.

Come along to Wilstone, located on the A49 south from Shrewsbury, and a couple of miles north from Church Stretton.

September 15, 2011

Something we do rather well (we’re allowed to crow, we’ve been in business long enough!) is fabrics.

Wilstone has a huge array of delicious coloured cushions and throws, from square velvet cushions in sumptuous greens, purples and burnt orange, to traditional rajasthan gypsy throws, throws detailled in silk threads, cushions with irridescent purple silk, lilac or pink silk bands, gold block prints, georgette roses, allsorts!

This weekend, Wilstone will be holding a big fabric event, where we’ll be offering a 15% discount on all things fabric!

Come and have a look (and a touch) at what we have in stock.

Here at Wilstone, we price to sell, so prices start from £6.50 to £12 for cushions (and some come with ‘inners’)  - whilst throws are priced from £65 upwards.

Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September. Open from: Saturday 10am-5pm, and Sunday 11am, – 4pm

Have you seen it? Our new website all about our absolutely wonderful Kadai Firebowls http://www.kadai.co.uk/

Here you can view our entire range of recycled and antique kadai firebowls, as well as browse our complete range of accessories, including the very popular tripod stand, our award winning charcoal maker, as well as hand forged skewers (and racks to go with them), and much more! Go and have a peek! http://www.kadai.co.uk/

Now the summer seems to have left us with chilly evenings, this is when the kadai firebowls really ‘come into their own’, as they say.

Throw on some sausages, which will cook while you keep toasty warm, then remove the grills and there you have your warmth for the evening.

All of us here at Wilstone think (and know) that the kadai firebowls are simply the best (becuase most of us have got one!) Haver a look at the website, and see what you think!

Autumn Looms!

September 9, 2011

Where has the Summer gone? Everyone we speak to who comes through the Wilstone shop thinks the same, it came and went far too quickly!

The good thing is (and we really are singing our own proverbial trumpet here!) even if you plan a party or outside ‘do’ over the next couple of months – having a kadai firebowl will make sure of three things:

1) Ample cooking space for all your yummy goodies

2) Once cooked, remove the grills and fill with firewood to keep you all warm

3) Envy. *

*Yes, envy from your gathered friends, they will all want one once they see yours!

Pop in to the shop, located on the A49, just a few miles from Church Stretton and have a look at our stock or go to www.kadai.co.uk for further information.

In the Guardian newspaper of May 26th, our exceptionally popular Kadai Fire Bowls were featured as an eco bbq. We are very pleased and proud!

Unlike many BBQ’s, Fire pits, firebowls etc., our recycled iron Kadai Fire Bowl can withstand tremendous heat – making it ideal for cooking, then keeping you and your guests warm during the chilly Summer nights.

Wilstone House and Gardens, who are based near Church Stretton have been exhibiting their wares this weekend at the Malvern Spring Gardening Show and have had huge success!

Wilstone’s stand featured their eclectic mix of reclaimed, antique and new pieces – including the exceedingly popular Kadai Fire Bowls.

Once used for cooking at festivals across India, Wilstone import original examples of the Kadai Fire Bowl and exact copies made from recycled iron with heavily riveted plates and drop handles.

Co-owner of Wilstone, Christo McKinnon said “we are the sole UK importer of the Kadai Fire Bowl, and we can honestly say that these really are the ‘next big thing’, as we have sold hundreds!” Christo continued “we have currently got an order book with over 200 customers waiting for their kadai fire bowls.”

The Wilstone stands also featured creative seasonal planting by Kate McKinnon, co-owner and wife of Christo.

Wilstone, who employ a handful of staff also have a retail outlet located on the A49 near Leebotwood.

Christo said “each show that we do is a mammoth task, which takes a lot of planning – not only for the actual stand but also the logistics of getting all the stock to the show and back again”.

“Sales at the Malvern Spring Gardening Show have been fantastic”, Christo said.

The show season isn’t over for Wilstone yet, as they will be unpacking from Malvern and then heading off to set up their stand for the prestigious Royal Horticultural Societies (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show which runs from May 25th – 29th. Wilstone will also be exhibiting at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show in July.

Sorry to inform you, but we have sold out of our wonderful Kadai Fire Bowls ~ again!

Just goes to proove what we knew, these things really are a hot seller!

Practical, heavy weight BBQ’s, ideal for small groups or large parties – cook your food, remove the grill and you have a fire bowl ready for logs or coal. Ideal for you star gazers – you’ll be toasty and warm whilst being outside in the cool Spring nights.

Sorry (again) to sound like a certain television advert, but these aren’t just any old BBQ, these are heavy iron riveted kadai fire bowls that will withstand high temperatues and give you years of use.

The good news is that we have more coming in, and they’ll be arriving over the next couple of weeks.

Please visit www.wilstone.com for more information and prices.
